My digital compact camera.... and maybe soon to be

.....I Bought my first digital compact camera, I think back in 2003... Samsung Digimax V4.. 4 Megapixel resolution (the best during it's time for digital compact camera)... 3 x Optical zoom. I bought Samsung maybe due to my pleasant experience with the normal compact camera (I own Samsung and Pentax "analog" camera). The lense is Schneider K.... I don't know much about camera, ..but I heard when you choose new camera, look at the lense manufacturer... if the lense is coming from a well known manufacturer like Leica, Schneider K, Nikor, Canon, Carl Zeiss etc... the camera will print it onto the camera.. sort of like advertisment...

My first impression on the camera, wow... it's small, compact and easy to use..... almost point and shoot... no more buying rolls of films and sending for processing.... I am quite satisfy with it's performance....

Then in 2006... I bought another compact digital camera... Pentax Espio A10... 10 Megapixel resolution, 10 x optical zoom, Pentax lense... reason being I bought it, just because I want (not need ya) which can capture video in DivX format... It's good camera, small compact, easy, .. you can edit photos directly from the camera without saving it first in PC. The photo quality is OK... but,...

I still think my first camera is better.. perhaps I took better picture then last time... maybe i getting older, or i just don't know how to fully utilize the features... Please do look into my online photo storage http://picasaweb.google.com/jalal1999 , the photos that have date on it was from Samsung, the others fromPentax...

Now... I'm thinking of buying new compact camera, Panasonic Lumix Tz15 or TZ5, 9 megapixel, 10 x optical zoom, wide angle 28mm... <---this is the feature that I want... W I D E  angle... I realize, using normal 35mm camera, it's impossible to capture all the image in tight and limited space (like taking pic of family members inside a house, taking pic of equipment inside equipment room)... perhaps this is the solution...
disclaimer: This attitude exhibit by the writer is a typical human behaviour..... hey, you dance poorly... no,  it's not me.,... it's the damned floor.. or my shoe is not right... heheh....
note: Panasonic Lumix TZ15 or TZ5 is highly recommended by http://www.dpreview.com/ , It's very rare the site recommend compact camera...

From the pictures taken, I think that the 10 megapixel camera shows more detail.

Nevertheless, the samsung 4 megapixel is not bad at all. Probably better then my 7 megapixel Cannot Powershot.

I've used olympus 3 megapixel before and, although the feature and pixel # is not as much as the newer version, the picture quality is nice.

So, I think maybe the lens type plays a big role. Which lens is best?

I am a big fan of cameras that can take sharp and highly details scenery pictures.

Yes, I agreed that lens play major and significant role .. any camera with Schneider K, Leica, Pentax, Canon, Nikor, Carl Zeiss etc would be a good camera. But in the end, is what you want to capture and the budget...

For me, I need camera with wide angle 25mm focal because I need to snap photo in tight space, also I need camera which can record video in HD format... Plus I need longer optical zoom, 10 x optical is good enough.

And, I also need camera which can do macro and supermacro shot....

I found that Panasonic Lumiz TZ5, suit this... I am not into DSLR, cause the size and high price..

I just need small, compact camera which can go into my backpack.. or pouch... Simple guy, simple camera...

Any idea on Panasonic Lumix DMC FS3. Saw it at Law Yatt.

What's interesting is that it have IA, Intelligent Auto-Focus.

The salesgirl make a sample picture of her collegue. Looks nice but I am quite distracted at the time. Don't really remember whether the girl look nice or the picture.

The camera has 8 mpixel compared to mine 7 mega pixel, canon powershot A550. I am not sure if this is an upgrade. It use Leica lense. I think the optical zoom only 3x. Price 699.

I would like to add to the last comment I've made.

I think the problem is that I did not really read the manual fully.

The Camera says that it is a point and shoot camera. So I just point and shoot like the analog camera.

However, after reading the manual, unlike the analog camera, there are parameters and setting that can be adjusted to get better picture.

Since beginning I used the camera with standard picture quality. There is a high quality option. After switching to this, the difference is quite significance.

In addition, there is exposure level, ISO setting and etc. I also found out that I could get better picture by not using the flash.

One of the biggest problem is that I got blur picture due to the camera shake. I thought of getting a tripod.

After reading the literature in the internet, I found that there is very little differences from 7 to 8 megapixel camera since the the megapixel is calculated by multiplication of the vertical and horizontal axis. Perhaps a 10 megapixel should make some differences.

I thought maybe I would like to upgrade to a better 10 megapixel camera when I got the cash.

Anyway, taking picture now is much more interesting.
